We were given complete creative freedom with this project, with our only limits being that our design had to be continuous as a wallpaper and be printed with four colors or less on a 11x17 (tabloid) sized page.

I knew that I wanted to have sky whales in my design, but wanted to include a sun design in it somehow. I ended up making a little character design, aptly named “Sunny,” to represent my sun design. From there, I traced my sketch in Illustrator and split the file so it would make a continuous design.

After printing what was on my initial sketch, I felt that I needed to fill the rest of my page. So, I added a large, breaching whale as a centerpiece (along with other details)

This project is probably my favorite that I have made in college, at least up to this point. Using both my design and illustration skills to create something that I could have and put on my wall was very gratifying and helped me feel like graphic design was something I could really enjoy.
